Buying a boat from the internet provided me with lower prices and greater choice than trying to find a suitable vessel on island. But there are risks inherent with choosing a suitable one from a photo, brief specs and conversations with dealers who don't always have your best interests at heart. Jack filled this gap and not only provided a comprehensive pre-purchase survey (which my insurance co have commented is extremely thorough and adequately meets their needs) but also addressed my specific questions and concerns and assisted in services which the dealer seemed uninterested in providing i.e. sourcing a firm to shrink-wrap the boat prior to shipping. Plus his survey valuation enabled me to negotiate a large reduction in the price of the 18ft Searay 180 I purchased. I have no hesitation in recommending Jack to other Bermuda residents looking to purchase boats in Florida, he acts as your eyes and ears.

After years of boating in runabouts, my wife and I were looking to purchase a 30' express cruiser. With no experience in this size or type of boat, we were very concerned that we contract an honest, competent surveyor to minimize our risk before making, what is to us, a very large investment. We interviewed eight surveyors and Jack stood head & shoulders above the rest in responsiveness (phone, email), information & knowledge (including great website), patience (gladly educating us "newbies"), thoroughness (the best written report I have seen), and pro-active maintenance tips while doing the survey. Jack did an outstanding job. If and when we purchase another boat we want Jack on our team!

Over three different vessels in the course of 17 years I have encountered a number of marine surveyors, fortunate in that all were good to very good. Mr. Allinson is outstanding and I will use him again as needed and recommend him to friends and associates

I travelled from The Bahamas to Jacksonville to purchase my 31 ft Luhr. Off course, I had to have a complete survey done in the U.S. I was given a list of several surveyers in the area. At first, it was difficult for me as I didn't know any of them. After speaking with several of them, and asking God to guide me, I decided to engage the services of Mr. Allison. I am so very pleased with the level of commitment and professional of "Jack". He is very thorough and organized. He provides lots of good information and keeps his clients informed. He also provides good, sound advice and is respectful and prompt. I endorse Mr. John N. Allinson ll as a five-star Marine surveyor, as he is well-deserving of such an honor.

Jack Allinson did a survey on a 34' Irwin Citation sailboat for me in January of 2003. I first chose his services based on the large amount of useful inforamtion on his web site. After meeting I found a very inteligent and friendly person. I am a novice sailor and Jack took the time to go over every detail of the vessle with me. He gave me valuable insight not just what was good and bad about the boat but information on the best way to right the situation and even the best productss to do the job. His formal survey was very complete and layed out in an easy to read format. It included many photos of the areas covered as well as recomendations for repairs or upgrades. Upon the sea trial, Jack also took the time to pass on lots of great info about handeling the vessel and proper sailing procedures. I have owned the boat for a few months now and have refered to the survey often for ongoing information regarding systems and repairs. I have truley enjoyed my time onboard and the confidence gained form Mr. Allinsons survey.

We refinanced our boat after visiting the Ft. Lauderdale boat show. The finance company required a survey and lined up Jack Allison. Our boat was in Pensacola and he had to travel over from Jacksonville, FL. He worked with us on our schedule and arrived in Pensacola on schedule. Not only was he very friendly, but thorough on inspecting our boat for the financial survey. He displayed professionalism and knowledge of his job. I can recommend him without reservation.

Jack did a very thorough job of surveying the 36' Catalina sailboat that I purchased. In addition, he spent extra time educating me on technical aspects of the boat and things to consider in the future. He used the latest technology to complete the survey. In fact, the broker commented to me that he had never seen a surveyor carefully scrutinize a boat in such a detailed manner. Jack reviewed the boat as if he was buying it. Since I live far from the boat, Jack went back, for a reasonable fee, to make sure the punch list of items were addressed by the seller. He exceeded my expectations and I would highly recommend Jack.
